Jason and Amanda – Our Story

Exploring life together with a stowaway on the way

We met at a friends birthday party when Jason had an afro and Amanda broke someones rib playing basketball. It wasn’t love at first sight. A few years later we met again at college and started doing group activities together like mountain climbing, caving and hanging out. After Jason finally worked up the courage to ask Amanda out, the rest is history. As the song goes, first comes love, then comes marriage, then comes a baby in a baby carriage.

Jason comes from a family of woodworkers, Grandpa Al was a wood shop teacher and so was his Father Jay. They taught him the basics of woodworking at a young age. Amanda was eager to learn and excels at the intricate details of woodworking. Together we make the perfect team and decided to share our talents with the world.

Custom Woodworking

We make more than just breadboards

Over the years, we have created custom projects for our friends and family. Some of the projects we have completed are: rustic bed frame, Nordic tent movie prop, minimalist towel rack, industrial wood and pipe counter, and frames for artwork. One of our projects has even been published in Wood magazine, a phone case with a wooden optical weave illusion.

If you have any projects that you have dreamt up and are looking for someone to bring it into this world, look no farther. We love tackling the challenges of custom projects. Reach out to us today and we can start working on making your dream a reality.

Custom Beeswax Finish

Straight from our apiary

Let’s get back to basics – we make our own finish for our cutting boards made from local beeswax and food grade mineral oil. Bees are incredible creatures that make one of the best finishes known to man, beeswax. Young bees create wax scales that they build into the honeycomb bees are known for. The comb is used to raise young and store food for the colony. We harvest from our top bar hives using the traditional cut and crush methods. This leaves trace amounts of honey in the beeswax that gives our finish a pleasant honey smell.

Because we practice sustainable small scale apiculture, we currently have just enough beeswax to finish our artisan cutting boards. At this time we do not have finish for sale to the public. We are exploring options of partnering with other local and like-minded beekeepers so that we could produce more of our custom cutting board finish if there is enough demand. If you are interested, feel free to reach out to us and we will notify you about any news concerning our finish.
